What is your intention for this semester in Chemistry C106? Please don’t put it in terms of a grade, rather share what you hope to get out of the class. (Please post your response as a comment)
C106 does depend upon the knowledge learned in C105 and builds upon it. As you have questions, please stop by my office or discuss things with with me through this discussion forum.
I want to be able to be able to feel comfortable with chemistry. At this point in time I am not as confident with the concepts as I would like to be and I have made this my goal for the semester.
I would love to actually retain what I learn throughout the year. I can get pretty god grades for the tests but can never remember them afterwards. If I can keep this knowledge in my repertoire then I would be most please.
I would like to gain a better understanding of chemistry and how to build upon and expand on what I have already learned through high school and 105. It is important for me to keep this knowledge and understanding so I can pass the MCAT and get into Med School.
The information is important. But you can also increase your ability to think critically and process information, which is extremely important for doctor's among other professions.
I am a physics major but I would like to get a good knowledge of a variety of subjects. Physics and chemistry have a good amount of over lap and I would like to have at least a good base knowledge of chemistry and it's concepts. That way if I ever have to work with a chemist or do anything that may relate to chemistry I won't be at a complete loss.
I have taken some time away from chemistry and crazy enough, I've missed it so I'm just excited to add to my current knowledge of chemistry and learn about the wild world we live in. Of course performing well in the class is my greatest priority, but it's a huge bonus to actually understand and hold on to the knowledge I've paid for.
I really hope to touch up on my current chemistry knowledge as it has been a few semesters since I've taken 105 and I would also like to expand on that knowledge to really prepare myself for organic chem.
I am very excited for this course. I hope to continue to become more and more curious about the way our universe works. In chemistry, it seems that each new answer creates even more questions. I like digging deeper to understand what our principles of chemistry rest upon. I don't know what we will be covering in the course, but I'm sure it will maintain my interest. I would love it if we were given examples of chemistry involving common substances that humans encounter on a daily basis. I really enjoy seeing things in my house and thinking, "wow, I kind of know how that works".
It has been a few semesters since I have taken chem 105 which makes me nervous for this semester. I would like to refresh my memory my chemistry knowledge as well as successfully gain more knowledge of the course material
I had no idea how much I liked Chemistry until I went back to 101 and got a good foundation. I truly enjoy learning how science affects everything. I realize that understanding chemistry is the basis of all other science and as an Environmental Science student, it is crucial. I hope to come away with a better understanding of the chemistry I already know!
I hope to get a better general understanding of chemistry. In other words, deepen the knowledge I have and learn concepts that might be new to me too.

ReplyDeleteWonderful! Practice! I will give you lots of things to use to practice and hopefully we can find this a place to discuss issues with the material.

ReplyDeleteCome talk with me, let me know about your process!

ReplyDeleteGood plan, but it is not just the information that you can learn but also how to think critically and process information into good conclusions.
DeleteI hope build a solid foundation for my future chemistry classes. The more I absorb from this class, the more successful I will be in the future.
ReplyDeleteTrue, a best practice for that: stay on top of the material and practice the material!
